There are history experts who would ague that the classical victorian rocking horse is dapple-gray on a bow rocker. Others would say a truly victorian rocking horse would be a smaller replica of a real horse made from wood and mounted on a bow rocker or safety stand glider. We are not historians, so it is hard for us to know who is right. We know for sure, though, that in order to be called victorian rocking horse should be dressed nicely, in other words, all accessories should be top quality. With all our victorian rocking horses we try to make purely victorian accessories and details, without compromise.

We offer two lines of kids rocking horses: painted and natural wood finish. Each line is available in either medium or large sizes.Th e wood, leather, and paint we use are of the highest quality. For painted kids rocking horses (all, except Bolivar), the wood is kiln-dried and ready for carving in a week. It is then primed with a special coat of crack-proofing material to protect the structure against weather. Bolivar has a natural wood finish and is made from a hardwood that requires natural drying which may take up to five months depending on the season. Once dried, all timbers are cut into twenty-two blocks to form the body of the horse. Our woodcarvers then skillfully hand carve, sand, prime, paint and assemble the kids rocking horse.

After six weeks of artistic work the rocking horse is ready to be dressed. Leather straps support brass stirrups to provide easy mounting for riders of all ages. Leather reins help the rider hold on tight. A saddlecloth to protect the rider's legs is topped with a soft cotton padded saddle covered by the finest grained leather. The saddle will endure years of hard riding. Lastly, a flowing real horsehair mane and matching swishing tail are added to the rocking horse.
Finally, finished rocking horse is then ready to meet its stand made from eight additional blocks of the finest tropical hardwood waxed to provide the utmost in smooth gliding.
